Chicken Tehari


2 tablespoons oil

4 tablespoons mustard oil

3 Bay leaves

6-8 cloves of crushed Garlic

3 Cardamoms

1 Cinnamon stick

1.5 teaspoons ginger paste

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon mace

3 dates

1/4 cup yogurt

1/2 -3/4 cup water

Salt and pepper to taste


Heat the oils and add the bay leaves, cardamom and cinnamon then add onions. Fry for a few minutes. Now add chicken, ginger paste, salt, pepper and red chili powder. Fry for 10 minutes

Add the nutmeg and mace and dates. Stir in the yogurt and water and let it cook for about 20 minutes on medium heat.

For the rice:

1/4 cup mustard oil

1 onion sliced

3 cups soaked rice

Sauté for 5 minutes and then add 3 1/2 cups hot water, salt to taste and cook 10 minutes on low heat. You will now add the chicken on top and garnish with green chilies and cilantro and cover and cook on lowest heat for 20 minutes. Please take a picture and tag me
